Activities of The Faculty of Transport and Traffic Engineering

  1. The conceptual design of automation and charging of tickets as a part of the integrated passenger transport system

The Faculty of Transport and Traffic Engineering in Zagreb was selected as the highest bidder in the implemented public procurement procedure.

On 28 April 2016, the Agreement on Development of the Relevant Project, no. 466/16 amounting to HRK 372,000.00 exclusive of VAT, i.e. HRK 465,000.00 was signed with the selected bidder with an implementation period of 6 months.

The conceptual design will include the following elements: the analysis of the current situation in relation to the equipment of the ticket charging and control system of the transport providers – operators in the area of implementation of the integrated passenger transport system, presentation of modalities of the transport tickets charging, validation and control, processing of the characteristics of automated machines and other equipment used in the ticket charging system, types and forms of tickets, data processing methods, and definition of criteria and minimum functional and technology-related requirements of the ticket charging equipment. Furthermore, a cost analysis and a cost benefit analysis will be presented for the individual models of charging, validation and control of tickets.

Therefore, the project will propose the appropriate model of equipping the system with machines for charging, validation and control of tickets and describe the basic technical characteristics of the machines and equipment for ticket charging, validation and control, types and forms of tickets that are proposed to be used in the project implementation area, data processing method and methods of maintaining the machines and equipment for charging, validation and control of tickets, and it will define the stages of equipping the system, starting from the initial stage of implementation up to the final stage.

  1. The study of the adjustment of the organisational structure to the requirements of the integrated passenger transport

On 25 May 2016, the Agreement on the Development of the Relevant Project no. 655/2016 was signed with a consortium made up of the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Engineering and Ernst&Young savjetovanje d.o.o. (Ernst&Young Consultancy Services Ltd.) in the value of HRK 998,125.00 inclusive of VAT with a 10-month implementation period.

In accordance with its terms of reference, the project will include the analysis of the current ownership and organisational structure of the operators, characteristics of the business and social environment, characteristics and results of business operations, characteristics of the relationship with the state, local government and administration, analysis of the business model, i.e. the analysis of income and cost generation, and other significant characteristics of the current business operations of the potential operators of the integrated passenger transport in the project area. Furthermore, the project will propose a model and mechanism of transformation of the current organisational structure from the current business model into a new organisational structure, i.e. a business model adjusted to the system of the integrated passenger transport.

For the purpose of monitoring the project development and their successful implementation, regular coordination meetings of the parties involved in the project are held. In the period from 6 to 8 September, workshops will be held with the providers of public transport services in the Zagreb City area, Zagreb County and Krapina-Zagorje County, ZET (Zagreb Electric Tram – public transport company) and HŽ putnički prijevoz (Croatian Railways Passenger Transport) with the purpose of collecting data on their business operations, employees, ownership and organisational structure, fleet, list of lines, and number of passengers.

The invitation for co-financing the development of the regional traffic masterplans for the functional regions: Central Dalmatia, Northern Dalmatia, Northern Adriatic and Eastern Croatia.
